Scholarship Application

The purpose of the Beadle Club is to signally honor selected individuals in South Dakota who have given meritorious service in the cause of education over a period of years. This service must be aside from and in addition to their regular contributions made in their official capacities.

The major purpose of the Beadle Club is to foster and encourage individuals to emulate the life of General Beadle, who by his leadership, sacrifice, and sincere interest in educational activities in South Dakota , contributed much to the stability of our present program by establishing permanent school funds of the state.

The members of the Beadle Club are to dedicated their individual and cooperative efforts to help preserve the permanent school funds of the state. 


The South Dakota Beadle Club took its name from that of General William Henry Harrison Beadle who served the people of South Dakota in many ways in promoting a sound system of public schools. One of the stated purposes of the South Dakota Beadle Club is to emulate the motives and ideals of General Beadle in his support of the public schools of the state. To that end, the Beadle Club will offer a scholarship to current or former South Dakota educators pursuing an advanced degree in education administration or a related education field. To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant must be a current South Dakota resident with a degree in education or related field, and they must have been admitted to an advanced degree program at an accredited college or university.
