·                    Morrie Magnuson, who was the first full-time SASD Executive Director from 1974-1978, passed away earlier this week in Sioux Falls .  For the obituary and online registry go to http://www.millerfh.com.  

·                    A large majority of parents with children in the public school system believe teachers' salaries should be based on the quality of their work rather than a more standard compensation system. They also would like to see pay tied to student achievementRead more at Gallup.com.  

·                    New on-line at sasd.org is the presentation that John Pedersen and Wayne Lueders gave at Joint Convention on Superintendent Evaluations.

·                    Ed Porthan will be holding Instructional Leadership Training in Pierre beginning on September 14th.  For more information and registration forms, please go to sasd.org.   There are a couple of openings left, so if you would like to attend contact SASD at 773-2525.  

·                    Name Badges.  Last call if you need a new SASD name badge.  Contact Kara if you are either a new member or have changed positions or schools, and she will order a new complimentary name badge for you.  Be sure to state if you would like a lapel, pin or magnetic badge; and your title.  

·                    Salary Survey.  Don’t forget to go on-line and update your school district’s salary/benefit information.  Your school district’s input is immediately recorded and available on-line.  If you don’t remember your password and username from last year, contact Kara at kara.brandlee@sasd.org.  All SASD members can access the results by going to sasd.org and clicking on the salary survey link.
